Lakopac Kennels has been involved in Alaskan Malamutes for over 38 years. For five years, 6 of the Mals Tonto, Niko, KO, Winter, Snowball and Kalei ran on a recreational team covering over 600 miles on the Sussex Trail in Andover, NJ and at High Point State Park, NJ. Four of the six sledding dogs (Tonto, Niko, Winter, Snowball) obtained
their weight pulling titles (WWPD). Chance, Lakopac's Chance of Hiawatha has a CGC/TDI, RN and RL1. He did therapy work at nursing homes did over 50 visits working towards his therapy dog title. He also took part in a reading program with 4th graders in Stanhope, NJ called Tail Waggers. King continues his Agility competitions which he absolutely loves...along with Shiloh and Koda, Rori also has done agility but is retired now. All 4 Mals ie. Rori, King, Shiloh and Koda Bear have competed in agility, obedience and rally and Chance and Shiloh in therapy dog work. Shiloh is also taking part in a new AKC sport of barn hunting. Lakopac Kennels is also a multi-champion producer and owner. Lakopac Kennels proves the versatility of the Alaskan Malamute breed. They are wonderful companion animals and yet enjoy working too.
Frozen semen from Ch. Yukon's Bull o'the Woods (Bruiser), saved for 28 years, was used in the breeding program. Bruiser's pedigree on the sire's side is just about pure Tigara and the sire's dam goes back to Husky Pak and T'Domar. Rori's pedigree includes Storm Kloud, Tigara and Husky Pak. On Bruiser's mother's side there are great dogs from Yukon Kennels..Highland's NW Black Kong and Ch. Goldrush's Noel of the Yukon ROM who is out of Ed Finnegan's Yukon's BJ Comet of Fox Run. Both King and Rori have their RN, WCR Rally Level 1A, BN ,CGC and CPE titles. They either received them the same day or same weekend (except the CPE titles) showing their consistency in training and King has been working really hard to continue winning this year.. King has his AKC Agility Preferred Novice Jumper's title, AKC Standard Novice Preferred and Novice Fast Preferred title and has two Agility Open Jumper's Preferred legs. He has his CPE Point Level 1 title achieving 1,000 points at this level, plus his Level 2 and 3 titles and is working in Level 4. He started his show career taking a 4 point major from the bred-by class. He finished from the bred-by class in 2012 being owner-handled all the way.
Rori has 4 conformation points. She had a litter of 9 in 2013 from semen stored 28 years ago from multi-group winner Ch. Silverhawk Yukon of Lakopac (Paca). His sire was Ch. Mushateer's Lewis Moon (Pappy) and Pappy's sire and dam were Ch. Voyageurs Cougar ROM and Ch. Storm Kloud's Igloo. Behind Paca are the following lines: Tigara, Husky Pak, Tote-um, Storm Kloud T'Domar plus a good part of Ed Finnegan's Yukon Kennels. Behind Rori is a lot of Tigara and Husky Pak plus Storm Kloud and Mals from Ed Finnegan's Yukon Kennels. Yukon Kennels had some great Mals but being Ed was a handler he unfortunately didn't show his dogs but they were absolutely beautiful..lots of type and great movement. In just six generations or less these dogs begin appearing such as Ch. T' Domar's Bismarck, Ch. Tigara's Torch of Artica, Ch. Husky Pak Jingo, The home page gives a three generation pedigree of this most recent breeding. The litter was whelped 10/10/13. Koda Bear and Shiloh are two pups kept by Lakopac from this litter which can be seen under the heading News and Current Mals in Lakopac Kennels.
